Inviting 1st Degree Connections

How to strategically grow your company page following without spamming your network.

Growing a Company Page from zero can be a slow process. To accelerate this, Linked in provides Page Admins with a monthly allowance of “Invite Credits” to manually invite their personal 1st-degree connections to follow the page.

If used incorrectly, this feature feels like spam. If used strategically, it is the fastest way to seed your B2B or B2C brand with a highly qualified audience.

The Mechanics of Invite Credits

  • The Allowance: Every Company Page receives a set number of invite credits per month (typically 100 to 250, depending on page size and activity).
  • The Reset: These credits replenish at the beginning of every month. Unused credits do not roll over. Use them or lose them.
  • The Refund: When a connection accepts your invite and follows the page, that credit is returned to your balance for the month.

Strategic Execution

Do not just click “Select All” and blast your entire network. You want a targeted audience, not a large, unengaged one.

1. Targeting for B2B:

  • Only invite prospects who fit your Ideal Customer Profile (ICP), industry partners, or current clients.
  • If your page publishes content about SaaS Sales, inviting your former colleagues from a completely different industry will ruin the algorithm’s understanding of who your page is for.

2. Targeting for B2C:

  • Invite connections who have previously engaged with your personal content regarding the specific consumer topic you are building the brand around.

3. Team Coordination: If you have multiple founders or marketing leaders, make them all Page Admins.

  • Coordinate a “draft day” at the beginning of the month where each admin uses a portion of the credits to invite their most relevant network connections.
  • This ensures the page grows through diverse networks rather than relying entirely on the CEO’s connections.

[!TIP] The Warm-Up Before the Invite: People are more likely to accept an invite to a Company Page if they have recently engaged with you personally. Try to send invites a few days after you have had a positive DM exchange or comment thread with that connection.
